SAFE AS Clinics are one day, female only avalanche training sessions supported with real athlete experience and knowledge of the mountains. The panel of educators runs as follows: Lel Tone, Elyse Saugstad, Michelle Parker, Jackie Passo, Sherry McConkey and Ingrid Backstrom. The camps run on various weekends through the early winter season in California, Colorado, and Washington.

I am all about it, I love the backcountry, for me that's what it is all about, fresh turns with no one around except a few friends of course. It just seems like a no brainer to me and I have spent the bulk of my career out there and encouraging people to join me in the face shots. However, with the venture comes risk and, as someone who advocates powder, I feel the need to educate those who I encourage, its just part of my path and the responsibility that comes with it. Over the years I have been humbled by the mountains many times and its good to make sure you can be humbled while still making it home at the end of the day with all of your friends.

SAFE AS Clinics has been operating for 3 years touring local and US national resorts spreading the knowledge to allow women to learn to become educated about traveling in avalanche terrain, managing risk, and preparing for potential rescue from the ski industry's most experienced big mountain women. I felt honored when they asked me to join this inspirational panel at Copper Mountain to share my own experience and knowledge. It so important to collaborate with others, share experience and learn; we are always learning.  The weekend was packed with Yoga, avalanche info, demos, training and a ton of laughs. What a kick ass program, I seriously cant wait to join forces again next year and spread the shred and with it the education. Lets be honest LUCK FAVORS THE PREPARED!
